Devi by Rashmin Joshi

Updated: 3 days ago

Rashmin is one of those people that quite literally wears her heart on her sleeve. As a genuinely sincere person, her art reflects those qualities in abundance. She began creating beautiful, hand-crafted clothing that focused on comfort and beauty, with luxurious (but affordable!) natural fabrics that could make women feel seen and celebrated! Her vision for Devi is to provide busy women with gorgeous, body-positive clothing that transitions effortlessly from everyday life to moments of self-care. In addition to prioritizing comfort and inclusivity, Rashmin is dedicated to collaborating directly with skilled artisans to ensure fair wages and support their craft. She approaches her business with a personal sense of responsibility that starts with considering the needs of her customers, but follows it with being intentional and deferential to the artisans and their skill that make these designs come to life. I loved reading her Substack article about what very real considerations she weighs when making these decisions.

Her works feature bhutta block prints that are celebrations of nature,

combining the colors and saturation of spring, the seasons, flowers, and the ocean. She is inspired by the beauty around us, and takes that inspiration into the ancient art of block printing, capturing designs that are both timeless and practical. What makes her special is the dedication and care that goes into every stage of the process. Her works are a labor of love. You can see more of her fabrics and the process on Instagram @DeviforLife or Facebook.
