The workshop will cover some basic principles of drawing, from learning to use the materials to capturing a subject. I will walk through the items on my materials list to discuss some of their uses and qualities, how they may be used in different ways to achieve different effects.
Then we will go over some basic sketching and drawing techniques, including ways to see a subject that will help in capturing it on paper, to give it depth and perspective.

Materials List
Spiral Drawing Sketchbook 5.5 x 8.5 inches
Graphite Pencil in HB (or a set of various)
White plastic Eraser
Pencil Sharpener
Sketching Smudging Tool
Kneaded Eraser
There are some wonderful drawing kits that already have these tools (plus a few I will not be using) for fairly inexpensive. Amazon, Walmart, Target, Michael's and Joanns have options.
Any art "sketch" or "drawing" book at least 5.5 x 8.5 inches in size. Big enough to give you space, but not so big that it's overwhelming. Strathmore 400 Series or Canson XL Drawing are perfect options.
I will be using a Moleskine HB Pencil. A set containing various lead softness is also a good option. Moleskine Classic Drawing Set of 5, Faber-Castell Graphite Sketch 6 Pencil Set, Staedtler Mars Lumograph set of 6 are all great options.
White Eraser - Staedtler or any brand
Any Pencil Sharpener
Kneaded Eraser - General's or any brand
Smudging Tool - any brand
